Turin is a major city as well as a business and cultural centre in northern Italy. It was the first capital of modern Italy, and the host of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. The city is the headquarter of the automobile giants Fiat and also the European capital of Baroque.

Turin covers an area of 50 sq. miles (130.2 square Km) and is estimated to have a population of 1 million people being the 4th largest city in Italy. Turin is the capital of the Piedmont region, located mainly on the right bank of the Po River.

a3.jpgThis walk visits all the places that have played a fundamental part in the story of this industry which is so strongly linked to the life of Turin. It leaves from Corso Dante which is home to the first factory (art deco style), and is now a data processing centre, then passes through Lingotto (Via Nizza), which used to be an avant-garde factory and is now a conference centre and director’s seat. It ends up at the imposing Mirafiori factory which extends over an area of roughly three million square metres.
